How does where and when you are born change a life?
Live it, then talk about it.
Born in Japan is a life simulator that lets you live one Japanese life, year by year, built on Japan's public statistics and the history of each era. Use it in classes and training to explore how a prefecture, a family and a generation shape education, work and everyday life.
Why it works in classes and training
Real data and assumptions, kept apart
The statistics, their sources and the game's assumptions are published in the explainer pages. Participants can check for themselves what is real data and what is an assumption.
Compare by living it
With the shared daily birth, a whole class or training group can start from the same circumstances and compare the paths they chose, then discuss lives shaped by different families and generations.
No sign-up, just a browser
It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. No accounts are needed, and every character is a fictional person generated by the game.
Japanese and English
The English edition makes it usable with international students, overseas staff, and exchange classes with schools abroad.

Our rules for sponsored editions
Clearly labelled
Sponsored editions always show the sponsor's name and are never disguised as ordinary lives.
Kept separate
They are built as a separate mode. The statistics, odds and logic of the normal game are not changed.
No bending results
Outcomes are never tilted to suit an advertiser. The statistics and assumptions are published, just as for the normal game.
Important notes
- The educational effect in classes and training has not yet been evaluated. We will assess it together with early partners.
- The simulation combines average tendencies in public statistics with game assumptions. It does not predict any real person's life or future.
- It does not judge or rank any person, family or region.
